First we listened to a fiction story Tacky the Penguin
Next, we began our journey into the frigid land of penguins. We watched videos of penguins in the wild
Then, books were introduced.

We learned about penguins having torpedo shaped bodies that allow them to swim 15-25 miles per hour! This video showed us what it was like to swim in the Antarctic Ocean where all the penguins live.

Then it was time to put what we had learned out to the community. We designed our set of an ice shelf and icebergs to look authentic. As small groups, we designed and created full scale penguins. We displayed our research. And then, it was time to share our knowledge with our parents.  |
